A little farm outside of Ann Arbor on a warm, spring evening was the setting for this family session. I walked into a beautiful old farmhouse, gratefully accepted a glass of wine and began photographing a family that I had never met, yet felt instantly connected to. We wandered inside and out, casually snapping photographs as the three kids warmed up to both me and camera. It had been a rough weekend; my mom had been hospitalized, having undergone an emergency surgery and I was eager to set worries aside for a few hours and focus on something else. The…

The Sacksteder's live nearby in a beautiful open and airy home, full of mementos, artwork and greenery; all the makings of a Design Sponge or Apartment Therapy home tour. I randomly met Amy & her family at the local coffee shop, first noticing Elliot's adorable, wobbly walk as he tottered around tables, back to dad and around tables again. It's always interesting to meet new people, so a few months later I followed up with Amy and we scheduled an in-home shoot.
